MAC’s “Hey Sailor!” Collection! Lipstick & Lipgloss review

The moment that I saw the promo picture for MAC cosmetic’s “Hey Sailor!” Collection, I just fell head over heels in love with the red lipstick.

It is so beautiful and it would look good on anyone. It has a bit of a berry-ish undertone as opposed to an orange one, which makes it suitable for fair skin and dark skin.

I bought the “Red Racer” lipstick and the “Send Me Sailing” lipglass. They are pretty much the same color, one is just a lipstick and the other is a gloss. Typically what I like to do is layer my lipsticks with a gloss usually just to get a hint of moisture and shine. But sometimes I just feel like wearing one or the other. If it’s for work, I usually apply lipstick since it gives off a more mature kind of look, but if I’m in a rush or want a more playful, but not overdone look, I stick with lipgloss. I think for the summer time, the lipgloss is going to be ideal because it is easy, simple, yet super sexy.

Both “Red Racer” and “Send Me Sailing” are super pigmented (as you would expect from MAC), so whether you choose one or the other, just know you are going to get a pop of color!

Now go put on your sailor suit and hit the water!

Also, I do apologize for the bad picture quality, I am working away from home since I am traveling, but I just had to update!

Review: Algenist – Biotechnology’s Anti-Aging Breakthrough

” It started out as a renewable energy project—and turned into an unexpected antiaging discovery. Algenist comes from a team of biotechnology scientists based in San Francisco. They were working on developing microalgae-based renewable energy solutions when they uncovered alguronic acid, a powerful compound responsible for regenerating and protecting the microalgae cell. When scientifically tested, it demonstrated significant antiaging properties, too. The result? A breakthrough skincare collection that offers never-before-seen technology for rejuvenated, younger-looking skin at any age.” (credits: Sephora.com)

My mom first told me about Algenist last week when we got together during my work week in her territory. We were talking about anti-aging and prices of products and she told me about Algenist. I never heard of it before, but according to my mom it has been receiving amazing reviews. She actually got some samples (somehow) of some of the products and gave me her almost empty samples of the product.😛 The samples I got are the Concentrated Restructuring Serum, Complete Eye Renewal Balm, and Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer.

After I first applied the Concentrated Restructuring Serum, it immediately reminded me of Lancome’s Genefique a little bit because of how quickly it absorbs into the skin without leaving a film layer or any residue. But THIS is about 10x better than Lancome Genefique, because I actually saw a result on my skin right away. I noticed that my skin was more radiant and glowy and that my lines around my forehead and smile lines were diminished. Now, I know it says on the website that it takes 4 weeks for the real results to appear, but the fact that I noticed a difference within one use of the product, says a lot to me about how well developed and researched this serum is.

Now don’t get me wrong, Genefique is a good product, but I think Algenist might just be better for my skin type.

I’ve never used an eye cream before, so I really have nothing else to compare to this, but I LOVE this. The Complete Eye Renewal Balm is incredibly concentrated so you only need a little bit. It absorbs so well in the eye area and really makes them appear more awake and feel rejuvenated. Before this, I just thought using a serum for all over the face was enough. But your eyes need a different kind of therapy. Everyone should use an eye cream to stimulate the cell regeneration and prevent fine lines, cure discoloration, and drooping eyes.

The Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer is probably the FIRST anti-aging moisturizer that I can wear without it building up and making me want to wash it all off my face after an hour. It soaks right into the skin and hydrates from the inside out all while smoothing out fine lines and correcting any damage on the skin. I primarily have been using this at night, simply because I prefer to use a moisturizer with SPF in it for the daytime. But when I wake up in the morning, my skin feels SO soft and the best part is that I don’t have a film of oil over my skin.

I think this is love.😀 Once I am finished up with the samples, I will be sure to purchase the full-size products.

You can buy them online at:  Sephora.com , QVC.com , Amazon.com , or Algenist.com

Algenist is an incredible line of anti-aging products that was created from a biotechnological accident of sorts by students in San Fran. There is a beauty in that the cosmetic world would not thrive without breakthroughs in science and technology. Unusual and unexpected discoveries help us advance our way of thinking about the world and allow us to view ourselves in a new way. A beautiful way.

BB Cream! Beauty secret from Asia & Review of Smashbox BB Cream

For most people who know me, know that I love Asia. Everything from music, beauty products, fashion, the language, culture, history, art… I just love it all. I lived in Japan for 1 year with an amazing host family and I wish I could go back because I miss my life there so much.

While I was living in Japan, I was able to find a lot of the Western beauty products I was using, like MAC and Clinique, but at exorbitant prices. So in the effort to save some cash, I decided to check out some Japanese beauty products instead. I am so happy I did. The first Japanese beauty product I ever bought was a BB Cream by Canmake. Even though BB Cream gained its popularity in Asia, it was created by a German dermatologist back in the 50’s and was mainly used to protect the skin after surgeries and damage.  I love this because it is an all-in-one product. It is a moisturizer, a primer, a foundation.. it’s everything!  It is super light and it also has an SPF in it to help prevent pre-aging. BB Cream has been pretty popular in Asia for awhile and has only caught on in recent months/years in the Western beauty world. Even though brands like Estee Lauder HAVE produced BB Cream’s before, they were only for their Asian market. So if you’ve ever wondered why Asian women always have beautiful and look so young… well BB Cream is partially to thank. (the other half is their diets!) :P Anyway, for curiosities sake, even though I really like the Canmake Perfect Serum BB Cream I decided to try Smashbox’s BB Cream, since I was at Ulta and spotted it there.

When I first applied the Smashbox BB Cream I thought it smelled a little bit too much like sunscreen, but other than that, it blends very well and sets very lightly on the skin so it doesn’t add any weight or heaviness. After applying the BB Cream, I set it with my MAC Mineralize Loose Powder and the overall result was amazing. My skin was even, looked fresh and awake and best part is that it looked natural.:)

The biggest difference between the BB Creams produced in the Asian beauty market and the one in the Western beauty market is that in the Asian brands, some of them have whitening properties in them to make the skin appear whiter and more illuminating. Western BB Cream’s do not have this property because Westerner’s prefer to have a tanner complexion.

I highly recommend BB Cream to anyone because it works for all skin types. It’s a really easy way to achieve a flawless complexion in just one step!
